PADI Assistant Instructor course will not only help you with gaining more experience as a professional diver but also teaches you the philosophy of PADI system on diver training. With this level, you can assist instructors during their PADI courses and you can conduct some independent courses. This course is the first part of your next level: PADI Instructor Development Course. In this course, you will gain experience in organizing and supervising diver activities while adding teaching techniques to your professional knowledge and skills.
WHY?
In addition to your duties and responsibilities as a PADI Divemaster, you will be authorized to:
- Present the knowledge development elaboration for any PADI Diver course under the instructor’s indirect supervision
- Present initial skills training under the instructor’s direct supervision during confined water dives
- Conduct open water surface skill evaluations during Open Water Diver course dives under the instructor’s indirect supervision
- Teach and certify Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty Divers under the direction of an instructor and independently teach Project AWARE and Coral Reef Conservation Specialty courses.
COURSE PREREQUISITES
- PADI Divemaster or leadership level with another diver training organization
- 18 years old
- 60 logged dives; documented experience in night diving, deep diving and underwater navigation
- Certified diver for 6 months
- Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care course completion (or qualifying training) within the last 24 months
- Medical clearance attesting to dive fitness signed by a physician within the previous 12 months
COURSE CONTENT
Knowledge Development:
This section can be completed with independent study and/or classroom lessons. It contains topics such as learning, teaching and PADI system, General Standards and Procedures, Risk Management, Diving Marketing, PADI Specialty courses. You will also learn teaching techniques in the classroom, in confined and open water.
Practical Applications:
Practical applications are conducted as preparation for real life situations. You will apply the techniques you will learn in knowledge development sections and complete:

- Teaching skills in confined water
- Teaching skills in open water
- Demonstrating scuba and skin diving skills
- Rescue exercise in open water
